Google Easter Eggs - Festivals Special

Mazel Tov, Namaste, Shalom, Asalaam Walekum. It is wonderous that there are so many languages and an equally great number of religions to which they belong. Every religion celebrates various joyous, musical and grand festivals, and Google like always has hidden its eggs and we like always have found them. Here are six Google Easter Eggs, Festival themed.

1] Holi - 19 March 

The festival of colors indeed has its very own spot in Google. On searching, you can see three heaps of color above the info box. Clicking on these will enable you to throw water balloons all over your screen ( virtual balloons obviously). However, this Easter Egg is activated only on an annual basis on the day of the festival for 24 hours only.


2] Ramadan - 13April to 12May

The ninth month of the Islamic calendar, observed by Muslims worldwide as a month of fasting, sacrifice, prayer and reflection towards the community. You can find its icon of a crescent moon above the info box . This relays the screen into a starry night, where you have to locate the crescent moon. Although this Egg is activated only on the day of Ramzan.


3] Festivus - 23 December 

A secular holiday celebrated two days before Christmas to proxy to the commercialism that is pressurized during Christmas. The Festivus Pole is one of the main characteristics of this occasion. It is a long aluminium pole and this is also the Easter Egg that you get when searched. The Festivus pole can be seen standing to the right of the screen extending from the head to toe of the page. ( This Easter Egg is available at all times.) 


5] New Year - 1 January

This Globally recognized occasion marks the beginning of a brand new year. Celebrated on the strike of the twelfth hour of the first day, with fireworks and confetti. The Easter Egg consists of a confetti cone, and clicking this will explode confetti all over you screen, marking the dawn of new year. This Easter Egg is only enabled on new years day.


6] Diwali - 4 November

The festival of lights celebrated my Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists and many more religions. It marks new beginnings and the victory of good over evil, light over darkness. The icon over the info box represents a lit Diya (lamp). Clicking on this darkens the screen and several other such lamps appear on the screen for you to light up. (This Easter Egg is available at all times.) 


Google has it's own sense of fun and frolic. These Easter Eggs never fail to delight and entertain us.
