Google Easter Eggs - Sonic the Hedgehog
Another platformer game like Mario, Sonic the Hedgehog has a big reputation when it comes to retro games. It is widely being recreated today, and recently a movie has also been released starring Sonic. Though it was originally believed that the Easter Egg was placed for a short time and then removed, the Easter Egg has been confirmed to still exist.
I think I am speaking for a lot of people here, but what is Sonic the Hedgehog?
Sonic the Hedgehog is a Japanese video game series and media franchise created and owned by Sega. The franchise follows Sonic, an anthromorphic blue hedgehog who battles the evil Doctor Eggman, a mad scientist. The main Sonic the Hedgehog games are platformers mostly developed by Sonic Team; other games, developed by various studios, include spin-offs in the racing, fighting, party and sports genres. The franchise also incorporates printed media, animations, a 2020 film and merchandise.
So, what is the Easter Egg?
To activate this Easter Egg, you have to search for either "Green Hill Zone", or "Sonic the Hedgehog".
- When you try to activate it searching "Green Hill Zone", you will see a 16-bit manifestation of Sonic in the Info bar. Clicking it will make Sonic spin and produce a sound. Clicking him 20 times will turn him into Super Sonic.
- When you try to activate it searching "Sonic the Hedgehog", you will have to scroll down past the Info box and click on "Sonic the Hedgehog - Arcade Game". When you do so, you will be taken to t page where you will see a 16-bit manifestation of Sonic in the Info bar. Clicking it will make Sonic spin and produce a sound. Clicking him 20 times will turn him into Super Sonic.
Sonic was, is and will always remain a crucial game that continues to inspire a new generation of games and gamers. We will continue to document exciting Easter Eggs.
